Nevel, Jedeloo named NFHCA Division II National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  — Junior goalkeeper from No. 5 Bloomsburg University, Jackie Nevel, and junior forward from No. 1 Shippensburg University, Tess Jedeloo, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Junior goalkeeper from Assumption University, Paige Gillette, sophomore forward from No. 10 Newberry College, Emma Westbrook, and junior forward from No. 6 Saint Anselm College, Amanda Lewandowski, also received honorable mentions nods for Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, as well.

NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week

 

Jackie Nevel, No. 5 Bloomsburg University, Jr., Goalkeeper (Nescopeck, Pennsylvania)

  • Named PSAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Posted back-to-back shutout victories as the Huskies went 2-0 on the week.
  • Recorded eight saves in Bloomsburg’s 1-0 win over then No. 1 East Stroudsburg, the team’s first shutout win over the Warriors since 2016.
  • Ranks second in the PSAC in save percentage (.795) and third in both saves (62) and shutouts (five).

NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

 

Tess Jedeloo, No. 1 Shippensburg University, Jr., Forward ( Amsterdam, The Netherlands)

  • Named PSAC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Netted five goals and added an assist this week in two wins over No. 3 Kutztown and Slippery Rock, including the game winner against the Bears.
  • Had a hand in five of Shippensburg’s seven goals against Slippery Rock, assisting on the opening goal before scoring the second, fourth, fifth and sixth of the game.
  • Leads Shippensburg with 14 goals and 34 points this season.

NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Paige Gillette, Assumption University, Jr., Goalkeeper (Andover, Massachusetts)

  • Logged her eighth and ninth wins of the year in net, as she made two saves against Franklin Pierce in a 6-1 win before recording four saves against Bentley for her seventh shutout of the year.
  • Leads the Northeast-10 in wins (9), shutouts (7), goals-against average (0.22), and save percentage (0.917).

NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Emma Westbrook, No. 10 Newberry College, So., Forward (Dover, Delaware)

  • Named SAC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Scored her second straight hat-trick along with an assist in the Wolves’ 6-0 victory over Lincoln Memorial. 
  • Leads Division II in goals per game (1.54) with a school-record 20 goals in 13 matches.

NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Amanda Lewandowski, No. 6 Saint Anselm College, Jr., Forward (Franklin, Massachusetts)

  • Tallied a career-high in points (6), including a hat-trick, in a 4-0 victory over against Saint Michael’s.
  • Added an assist in 4-1 victory over New Haven.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States. The mission of the organization is to stimulate the professional development of coaching leadership within the sport of field hockey. The NFHCA strives to cultivate and recognize the professional contributions of its membership and to foster and promote the growth of the sport. The NFHCA is responsible for providing a recognizable presence and voice in regard to legislation affecting the sport as well as interscholastic and intercollegiate programs.
