Le Huray, Van Herwinjen NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Martha le Huray, a sophomore midfielder/forward from Harvard University, and Myrte van Herwijnen, a senior goalkeeper from the University of Massachusetts, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Bo van Kempen, a graduate student defender from Syracuse University and Sophie Ortyl, a junior goalkeeper from Boston University, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
Martha le Huray, Harvard University, Sophomore, Midfielder/Forward (Teddington, England)
- Scored three of Harvard’s four goals in a pair of ranked wins over then No. 12 Ohio State and No. 16 UConn.
- Netted both goals, including the overtime game-winner, in a 2-1 victory against Ohio State.
- Added a late fourth-quarter strike to seal a 2-0 shutout of UConn, scoring in back-to-back contests for a career-first.
NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week
Myrte van Herwijnen, University of Massachusetts, Senior, Goalkeeper (Huizen, Netherlands)
- Recorded eight saves in a UMass upset of then No. 4 Boston College, including five stops in the fourth quarter and overtime.
- Stopped three penalty shootout attempts, securing the Minutewomen’s second shootout victory in three games.
- Anchored the defensive unit across two wins, also guiding UMass past Dartmouth to complete a perfect weekend.
NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention
Offensive: Bo van Kempen, Syracuse University, Graduate Student, Defender (Zevenaar, Netherlands)
- Converted a penalty stroke in overtime to lift Syracuse past then No. 11 Princeton, keeping the Orange unbeaten.
- Tallied third hat trick of the season with two strokes and a penalty corner goal in a 5-2 victory at Lafayette.
Defensive: Sophie Ortyl, Boston University, Junior, Goalkeeper (Lexington, MA)
- Posted a 10-save shutout in BU’s 1-0 victory over then No. 4 Boston College.
- Finished the weekend 2-0 with a .882 save percentage, adding five saves in a 4-2 win vs. Quinnipiac.
