Introducing the NFHCA DEI Social Impact Fund: Championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Field Hockey
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is excited to announce the launch of the NFHCA DEI Social Impact Fund, a dedicated initiative aimed at promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field hockey community. This initiative represents the Association’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive sport, both on and off the field.
The fund is designed to empower programs and initiatives that champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in hockey. By providing support and resources to these initiatives, the NFHCA aims to bridge gaps and create a more level playing field for all.
Courtney Deena, a member of the NFHCA Board of Directors and NFHCA DEI and Black Coaches Council standing committees, expressed her excitement about the launch of this groundbreaking initiative.
“I am incredibly excited about the launch of the NFHCA DEI Social Impact Fund! We have had many conversations about how we can have an active role in ensuring that all communities are represented and respected in our sport. With this fund, we will be able to look around the table, ask who’s missing, and put the work into building a larger table where all can belong,” she said.
The Impact of the DEI Social Impact Fund
The NFHCA DEI Social Impact Fund will be instrumental in advancing diversity and inclusion efforts in field hockey by:
- Supporting Underrepresented Initiatives: Providing financial support to programs and initiatives in arenas that have historically faced barriers to entry and participation in field hockey, including funding for equipment, coaching, facilities, and access to the sport.
- Offering DEI Resources: Giving NFHCA members access to valuable diversity, equity, and inclusion resources, including educational materials and training opportunities. This will help coaches, athletes, and administrators create more inclusive environments within their teams and organizations.
- Promoting Awareness: Using the fund to raise awareness about diversity and inclusion opportunities in field hockey. By highlighting the experiences and contributions of individuals working to better underrepresented communities, the NFHCA aims to foster a culture of inclusivity in the sport.
