Allessie, Glatz named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Gianna Glatz, senior goalkeeper from No. 10 Rutgers University, and Mackenzie Allessie, sophomore midfielder from Ohio State University, have been named this week’s Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Gianna Glatz, Rutgers University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Medford, New Jersey)

Glatz posted a pair of shutout wins over No. 14 Penn State University last weekend. On Friday, in No. 10 Rutgers University’s first win over the Nittany Lions since 1985, Glatz recorded five saves and successfully defended seven corners to secure the 3-0 victory. Two days later, she recorded six saves to keep Penn State off the board and help the Scarlet Knights to a 1-0 win.

Glatz was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

Mackenzie Allessie, Ohio State University, So., Midfielder (Mount Joy, Pennsylvania)

Allessie had a hand in seven of Ohio State University’s 11 goals last weekend. In the first of two games against Big Ten Conference rival Indiana University, Allessie scored a hat trick and added an assist in the 5-0 victory. Then on Sunday’s 6-0 win, she recorded her second hat trick of the weekend, scoring twice in first half and a final goal in the last two minutes of the contest. Allessie currently leads the Buckeyes and the Big Ten in offensive points (19).

Allessie was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.
