van Aalsum, Lempers NFHCA DI Field Hockey Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Dionne van Aalsum, a junior forward from the University of Iowa, and Nilou Lempers, a junior goalkeeper from the University of Virginia, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Sib Naaktgeboren, a senior midfielder from Davidson College, and Amanda Cimillo, a junior goalkeeper from the University of Richmond, also received honorable mention nods for Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
Dionne van Aalsum, University of Iowa, Junior, Midfielder (Castricum, Netherlands)
- Recorded a hat trick, including the double-overtime game-winner, in Iowa’s 3-2 road victory at Ohio State.
- Leads NCAA Division I in both goals (26) and points (54) this season.
- Named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this year.
NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week
Nilou Lempers, University of Virginia, Junior, Goalkeeper (Amsterdam, Netherlands)
- Recorded 14 saves in wins over then-No. 11 Maryland and then-No. 6 Wake Forest.
- Anchored the Cavaliers to victories that clinched a share of the ACC regular-season title.
- Recognized as ACC Defensive Player of the Week and named ACC Goalkeeper of the Year.
NFHCA Division I Honorable Mention
Offensive: Sib Naaktgeboren, Davidson College, Senior, Midfielder (Zwijndrecht, Netherlands)
- Scored five goals across two wins, including a hat trick vs. Saint Louis to clinch an Atlantic 10 Championship berth.
- Named Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week.
Defensive: Amanda Cimillo, University of Richmond, Junior, Goalkeeper (Pleasant Valley, NY)
- Made nine saves in an overtime victory over VCU, clinching the Atlantic 10 regular-season title and top seed in the conference tournament.
- Named Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week.
