Skubisz, Gladieux named NFHCA Division I National Players of the Week

MANAHAWKIN, NJ  —  Senior goalkeeper from No 1. Northwestern University, Annabel Skubisz, and senior forward from No. 15 Pennsylvania State University, Sophia Gladieux, have been named this week’s NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Fifth-year goalkeeper from Appalachian State University, Addie Clark, also received an honorable mention nod for Division I Defensive Player of the Week as well.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week

 

Annabel Skubisz, No. 1 Northwestern University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Houston, Texas)

  • Named B1G Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Recorded her sixth-straight shutout with eight saves against No. 15 Penn State.
  • Extended shutout streak to 366:37 minutes at No. 3 Rutgers before allowing first goal since Sept. 22.
  • Turned away three penalty-shootout attempts in a 2-1 win over Rutgers as Northwestern claimed a share of the B1G Championship.

NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week

 

Sophia Gladieux, No. 15 Pennsylvania State University, Sr., Forward (Boyertown, Pennsylvania)

  • Named B1G Offensive Player of the Week.
  • Scored both goals in No. 15 Penn State’s 2-1 come-from-behind win over then No. 5 Iowa.
  • Leads the B1G with seven goals and 15 points in conference play.

NFHCA Division I Defensive Player of the Week Honorable Mention

 

Addie Clark, Appalachian State University, Fifth Year, Goalkeeper (Louisville, Kentucky)

  • Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Saved 20 total shots and allowed just one goal in wins over Ball State and then No. 8 Louisville, the Mountaineers’ highest ranked win in program history.
  • Recorded her third shutout of the season – and 13th in her career – in the victory over Ball State.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is a nonprofit organization serving field hockey coaches and supporters of the game from across the United States.
