Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach
William Penn Charter School seeks a Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach to develop and implement an exemplary field hockey program. Previous coaching or playing experience at the varsity or college level with a proven record of success and a strong academic background are required. The successful candidate will also demonstrate passion for the sport as well as patience and compassion for the athletes. The next leader of our field hockey program will build an atmosphere of learning that will nurture the students’ physical, moral, social and emotional development and promote sportsmanship and fair play. They will serve as an ambassador for the program and educate community members about the philosophy, policies, and expectations of the field hockey program and school culture overall. They will also develop a strong recruitment program. Consequently, strong communication skills as well as an ability to navigate difficult conversations in a thoughtful and respectful manner are also essential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate regularly with other coaching staff and members of the Penn Charter athletic program. Familiarity with the principles and practices of the Religious Society of Friends is also highly desirable.
This is a part time position from August to November, each weekday afternoon and Saturdays. Practice is daily from 3:30 – 6:00 pm, plus 2 to 3 games per week. Employment is subject to satisfactory completion of reference checks and proper clearances.
