Head Varsity Field Hockey Coach
St. John’s School, a coeducational independent K-12 school in Houston, Texas and a member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC), is seeking a dynamic individual to lead its Varsity Field Hockey program beginning the 2021-22 school year. In addition to serving as the Head Varsity coach, the successful candidate will provide leadership, supervision and organization for the entire Field Hockey program, including Junior Varsity and Middle School levels as the Program Director. Preference will be given to candidates with previous Head Coaching experience at the independent school level. Previous experience teaching Physical Education classes is preferred. Special emphasis will be placed on exemplifying the highest standards of professionalism, leadership, and sportsmanship. As a staff member in the Department of Athletics and Physical Education, duties will include a Lower School Physical Education teaching responsibility in addition to a winter and spring coaching assignment. The appointment is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits scheduled to begin on August 1, 2021. The selected candidate will report directly to the Director of Athletics. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required; Master’s degree preferred.
· Proven experience developing Field Hockey programs and players.
· Advanced knowledge and understanding of technical and strategic aspects of the game.
· Experience leading and coordinating a team of coaches.
· Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, coaching staff, and parents.
· Ability to teach, lead, motivate student-athletes.
· Proven organizational and management skills
