Description: Two- year coaching position accompanied by a two-year master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Studies with a specialization in coaching at the intercollegiate level. Smith’s Exercise and Sport Studies degree is recognized nationally for its excellence and our program has received Level V accreditation from the National Association for Sport and Physical Education. The program connects theory with practice by linking coursework with assistant coaching experiences.
Candidates should have skill and / or experience coaching/ teaching. College level play or international equivalent required. Position will provide the candidate the opportunity to complete a master’s degree while gaining two years of collegiate coaching. As an assistant coach you will be involved in all aspects of the management and coaching of a College program. Including but not limited to: On field coaching of Field Players and Keepers. Practice planning. Game strategy. All aspects of recruitment (Identification, correspondence etc). Scouting opponents. Video coding. Social Media. Muliti-media production. Alumni relations. Fundraising. Event Management. Camps and Clinics. Off field player development.
Successful candidates will possess strong organization and time management skills. The ability to adapt and problem solve on the go. Multi- tasking. Professional interpersonal communication skills. A passion and work ethic for Athletics not only for field hockey but also for what is required to ensure the best student athlete experience here at Smith.
