This is a volunteer opportunity that can be organized by NFHCA coaches and their teams to help grow and diversify the Be The Match® bone marrow donor registry as part of the Get in the Game. Save a Life.® program.

While bone marrow diseases affect people of all races, Black people are the most underrepresented when it comes to finding donors who could potentially save their lives — there are currently 9 million people in the Be The Match donor registry and only 8 percent are Black. As of September 2021, statistics show that 75 percent of Black blood cancers patients will never find a lifesaving donor. Learn more about the importance of diversifying the donor registry.

This initiative was established by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Black Coaches Council (BCC).
