GILBERT, Ariz. — The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll top-five looks as it has for the past four weeks with the University of North Carolina, the University of Maryland, the University of Connecticut, Duke University, and the University of Louisville polling first through fifth, respectively.
The Top Five
The No. 1 Tar Heels — who have clinched the top seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championship Tournament — will look to close out their 2019 regular season with a perfect record.
Maryland — second this week — claimed at least a share of the Big Ten Conference regular-season championship last weekend with their 5-1 win over Michigan State University on Friday.
The third place UCONN Huskies clinched the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and at least a share of the conference regular-season title with their 6-3 win over No. 18 Liberty University last Saturday.
No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Louisville will fight for preferred conference championship seeding in their ACC matchups this weekend — Duke will face No. 10 Boston College at 5:00 p.m. EST on Friday and Louisville will host No. 14 Syracuse at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday.
Games to Watch
Fans will not want to miss Friday's contest between No. 25 College of William & Mary and No. 12 University of Delaware. These two teams are tied for first in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) standings with 4-0 records. The winner of the match will take the top seed in the CAA Championship Tournament — watch at 6:00 p.m. EST on YouTube.
The game to watch this week is a classic Big Ten matchup between No. 9 University of Iowa and No. 8 University of Michigan. The Midwest powerhouses are set to pushback at noon on Saturday in Ann Arbor — a Hawkeye win could give them a share of the Big Ten regular-season championship, a Wolverine win would give Michigan second seed in the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament (watch on the Big Ten Network).
