Hanshaw, Veenstra named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Kerri Hanshaw, senior goalkeeper from No. 4 Kutztown University, and Celeste Veenstra, sophomore forward from No. 2 East Stroudsburg University, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Kerri Hanshaw, Kutztown University, Sr., Goalkeeper (Collegeville, Pennsylvania)

Hanshaw was instrumental in No. 4 Kutztown University's upset win over No. 3 Millersville University last Thursday night. She made five saves during 80 minutes of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action to keep the Marauders off the board. She closed the game by stopping four of Millersville's five penalty-shootout attempts, propelling Kutztown to a 1-0 win.

Hanshaw was named the PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

Celeste Veenstra, East Stroudsburg University, So., Forward (Alkmaar, The Netherlands)

Veenstra tallied three goals and one assist on the week as No. 2 East Stroudsburg University went 2-0 to remain undefeated in PSAC play. Veenstra scored a goal in a 2-0 win for East Stroudsburg against Bloomsburg University and closed the week with a pair of goals and one assist in a 6-1 win against No. 10 Mansfield University. Veenstra is currently tied for the national lead in goals with 19.

Veenstra was named the PSAC Field Hockey Athlete of the Week. This is Veenstra's second Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
