GILBERT, Ariz. — Florien Marcussen, junior goalkeeper from No. 5 Northwestern University, and Erin Matson, sophomore forward from No. 1 University of North Carolina, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Florien Marcussen, Northwestern University, Jr., Goalkeeper (Soest, The Netherlands)
Marcussen went 2-0 in the cage this weekend as No. 5 Northwestern University posted conference wins over No. 24 Michigan State University and No. 9 University of Michigan. Against the Spartans on Friday, she allowed just one goal while recording seven saves. On Sunday, she recorded five saves in the shootout victory over the Wolverines.
Marcussen was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Matson, University of North Carolina, So., Forward (Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania)
Matson had five goals and two assists for 12 total points in two wins for No. 1 University of North Carolina last week. At No. 8 University of Virginia on Friday, she assisted twice and then scored the fifth goal in a 5-0 win. Against James Madison University on Sunday, she had four goals — her single-game high and her fourth multi-goal game of season — including the game-winner.
Matson was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week. This is Matson's third Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division I Offensive Player of the Week honor this season.
