Frein, Nielsen named Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Claire Nielsen, freshman goalkeeper from No. 2 West Chester University, and Elissa Frein, senior forward from No. 9 Adelphi University, have been named this week's Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Claire Nielsen, West Chester University, Fr., Goalkeeper (Wescosville, Pennsylvania)

Nielsen registered a pair of shutouts in goal last week for No. 2 West Chester University. On Wednesday, she made three integral saves in West Chester's win over No. 6 Shippensburg University and followed that performance with a save in another shutout win over Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Nielsen was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Play Safe Turf & Track/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

Elissa Frein, Adelphi University, Sr., Forward (Carle Place, New York)

Frein tallied nine points on three goals and three assists last week in two conference wins for No. 9 Adelphi University. Last Tuesday, she netted a goal and an assist in the Pather's 4-1 win over St. Thomas Aquinas. She doubled her output on Saturday against Saint Michael's College — scoring twice and assisting twice — helping her team to a 5-1 win.

Frein was named the Northeast-10 Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week.
