GILBERT, Ariz. — Grace Harlan, sophomore goalkeeper from No. 1 Middlebury College, and Melissa Way, junior forward from Kean University, have been named this week's NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.
NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week
Grace Harlan, Middlebury College, So., Goalkeeper (Groton, Massachusetts)
Harlan posted a pair of shutouts in goal last week as No. 1 Middlebury University put two more ticks in the win column. On Sunday, Harlan posted two saves to keep No. 7 Bowdoin College off the board — the 1-0 game was Middlebury's second conference win of the year. Then on Sunday, Harlan followed her shutout performance with another, turning away five shots in the Panther's 2-0 win over No. 19 Babson College. So far, Harlan has allowed just one goal in 300 minutes of action for the 5-0 Panthers.
Harlan was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week
Melissa Way, Kean University, Jr., Forward (Beemerville, New Jersey)
Way scored five goals across three games last week for the Kean University Cougars. Her efforts helped Kean to wins over Marywood University, the University of Lynchburg, and Bridgewater College. With her 10 points last week, Way became the New Jersey Athletic Association (NJAC) leader in points as well as the leader in goals and game-winning goals. The Cougars are currently on a six-game win streak and tout a 7-1 record.
Way was named the NJAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Savanna Robinson, Keystone College, Sr., Midfielder (Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania)
Robinson recorded 12 points on six goals last week for the Keystone College Giants. She accounted for every goal in Keystone's 5-1 win over Keuka College last Wednesday. Then on Saturday, she recorded another — the game winner — in their 2-0 win over Elmira College.
Robinson was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
