Defending National Champion, Shippensburg, tops the Preseason Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. — Field hockey's reigning NCAA Division II National Champion, Shippensburg University, was voted into the top spot in the preseason edition of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll this week.

The Top Five

Coming in second was last year's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champions, West Chester University. The 2018 NCAA National Championship runners-up, East Stroudsburg University, locked down the third-place spot, while Millersville University and Pace University at fourth and fifth, respectively, rounded out the top five.

Games to Watch

The Division II field hockey season begins this Thursday, September 5, with five contests taking place up and down the East Coast. A 3:00 p.m. EST contest between Saint Thomas Aquinas and Frostburg State University will kick off the 2019 season.

In top-10 matchups, No. 5 Pace will travel to No. 4 Millersville on Thursday for a 6:00 p.m. EST contest, while No. 8 Stonehill College will visit No. 2 West Chester for a 7:00 p.m. EST game on Friday.

The University of Mount Olive will kick off their inaugural season this Sunday, when they host Newberry College in a 1:00 p.m. EST contest.
