This month's honoree, Kate Smith, scored three goals and had two assists across five games — she also had two defensive saves. Her U16 Aim Field Hockey team — currently ranked ninth on MAX Field Hockey's U16 club ranking — went 4-1 in April. As a defender, Kate controlled the backfield with poise and prevented many scoring opportunities. In addition to contributing defensively, Kate also helped on the attacking end, contributing to five seperate Aim goals. She is described by her coaches as an "incredible all-around team leader."

This spring, the NFHCA is recognizing club players and their accomplishments through the Club Player of the Month award. Athletes were nominated by the NFHCA member coaches and selected by a voting panel of NFHCA representatives.

The nomination system for the May Club Player of the Month opens on June 1, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. EST and closes on June 15, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. EST. Coaches must be a 2018-2019 NFHCA club coach member to successfully nominate their athletes. For more information about the NFHCA Club Player of the Month program, click here
