NFHCA selects 3 Step Sports, LLC to operate Winter Escape

GILBERT, Ariz. — After an extensive bid process, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) is pleased to announce that 3 Step Sports, LLC has been selected by the NFHCA Executive Board to power the NFHCA's popular recruiting event, NFHCA Winter Escape. The fifth annual NFHCA Winter Escape event will return to the Boombah Sports Complex in Seminole County, Florida on January 17 — 19, 2020.

"After a thorough and comprehensive evaluation of several proposals, we are so excited to be teaming up with 3 Step Sports," said NFHCA President, Andy Whitcomb. "I was thrilled with the board's decision to overwhelmingly accept their bid and I believe it will be a perfect union of field hockey minds and skill sets. 3 Step's reputation for running premier events, coupled with presenting an excellent proposal, left us confident and absolutely eager to start planning for Winter Escape 2020."

The strategic focus of the NFHCA Winter Escape event is to assist college-bound prospective student-athletes in finding a field hockey home by offering a unique, well-managed, coach-driven recruiting opportunity that benefits the field hockey community stakeholders.

Winter Escape is the premier event for prospective student-athletes to be evaluated and recruited for collegiate playing careers. In 2019, Winter Escape hosted over 320 collegiate coaches representing over 200 collegiate institutions and welcomed over 80 teams of prospective student-athletes to the venue, making Winter Escape the national recruiting event with the highest number of college coaches in attendance.

"We are privileged to have the honor of entering this partnership with the NFHCA. Our mission statements have many parallels, including the commitment to a sport we have all been fortunate to be a part of. We are very motivated to serve, meet and exceed the needs of the NFHCA members in conjunction with running a first-class Winter Escape event and to partner in the many premier recruiting showcases offered through Shooting Star and College Connection," said Vice-President for Field Hockey at 3 Step Sports, Ainslee Lamb. "I want to thank the NFHCA Executive Board for their support and trust in this exciting new partnership. I am confident that our concerted efforts, enthusiasm and expertise for field hockey, will facilitate a successful and enduring partnership for the coming years and many events ahead!"

With the selection of a full-service event management company, the NFHCA is excited to continue the growth and innovation of the recruiting event, while retaining the crowd-pleasers that set Winter Escape apart: the Uncommitted Showcase, House Teams, goalkeeping and shooting-specific clinics and pop-up tent recruiting seminars.

3 Step Sports currently operates a suite of field hockey events throughout the year — Elite Field Hockey Camps, College Connection Showcases and the Shooting Star Tournaments. Through their events, 3 Step Sports serves a variety of field hockey stakeholders — including coaches, players and umpires — a major portion of the field hockey community that the NFHCA Winter Escape event strives to impact.

The organization is known in the field hockey world as a provider of superior customer service and exceptional events. 3 Step Sports is overseen by managing partner, Dave Geaslen, and the field hockey arm is operated by former field hockey players and coaches, namely Ainslee Lamb, vice-president for field hockey at 3 Step Sports, who was the head coach at Boston College for 10 years, and Pam Hixon, president and founder of College Connection, who was the head coach at the University of Massachusetts for 17 years and is a member of the NFHCA Hall of Fame.

"3 Step Sports is thrilled to have been selected to host the Winter Escape in partnership with the NFHCA," said Pam Hixon. "We are committed to provide all NFHCA constituents, athletes and parents with a fun, meaningful recruiting event!"
