Lorenz named 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete

GILBERT, Ariz. — Nike Lorenz, a junior defender from the University of Maryland, has been named this year's Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Scholar-Athlete.

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete award is presented to the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American honoree who earns the highest cumulative grade-point average through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

A 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA Division I Second-Team All-American, Lorenz scored 14 goals with four assists this season. She played an essential role in the Terrapins' season which was highlighted with a Big Ten Tournament Championship and a trip to the 2018 National Championship game.

Along with her All-American accolades, Lorenz was also named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region First Team and the All-Big Ten Second Team.

Earlier this spring, she was named to the Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad and was named a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I Scholar of Distinction. Lorenz is currently majoring in Germanic Studies at Maryland.
