Petrantonio, Smith selected as Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year

GILBERT, Ariz. — Jazmin Petrantonio, of Shippensburg University, and Kacie Smith, of Stonehill College, were selected to represent their respective regions as the Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Regional Players of the Year.

Atlantic Region Player of the Year

Jazmin Petrantonio, Shippensburg University, So., Midfielder/Forward (Saenz Pena, Argentina)

Petrantonio, the 2018 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Field Hockey Athlete of the Year, has been named the Longstreth/NFHCA Atlantic Region Player of the Year — for the second year in a row — after an explosive season with Shippensburg University, the 2018 NCAA Division II National Champions. Petrantonio finished her sophomore season leading the Raiders in goals (28) and points (62) — she was named to the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships All-Tournament Team and was named to the All-PSAC First Team. In her second year representing the Raiders, Petrantonio helped her team stay in the top five of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll throughout the season and was an integral part of Ship's run to the PSAC Championship game. Petrantonio was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-American First Team yesterday.

East Region Player of the Year

Kacie Smith, Stonehill College, Sr., Forward (Norwood, Massachusetts)

Smith, the 2017 Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Player of the Year and the three-time Northeast-10 (NE10) Player of the Year (2016, 2017, 2018), has been named the 2018 Longstreth/NFHCA East Region Player of the Year — her third East Region Player of the Year honor. In her senior season, Smith dominated national statistics finishing the year with 32 goals and 10 assists for 74 points. She was an integral part of a Stonehill squad that went 13-7 and qualified for the Northeast-10 Championship Tournament. Smith tops the list in every attacking statistics category at Stonehill with 109 career goals and 257 career points. In addition to being named to the All-NE10 First Team this season, Smith was also named a Longstreth/NFHCA Division II First-Team All-American yesterday.
