West Chester University tops final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. — For the sixth and final time this season, West Chester University was voted into first place in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champions took first seed in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship tournament — West Chester was awarded a bye in the NCAA tournament, sending them directly to the semifinals. The Golden Rams will face the winner of the first-round contest between No. 3 Merrimack College and No. 3 Shippensburg University.

In second place this week is East Stroudsburg University. The 15-4 Warriors also received a first-round bye — they will face either No. 5 Pace University or No. 6 Saint Anselm College, the Northeast-10 rivals will compete against one another in the first round of the tournament on Sunday, November 25.

In just less than two weeks, a Division II NCAA national champion will be crowned at the Division II Championships Festival which will take place at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — the tournament begins with first-round games on Sunday, November 25 and will conclude the following weekend with semifinals taking place on Thursday, November 29 and the championship match on December 1. The Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2018 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
