Hand, Shapiro named Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Julia Hand, sophomore goalkeeper from No. 10 Saint Anselm College, and Kelli Shapiro, senior midfielder from No. 3 East Stroudsburg University, are this week's Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Defensive Player of the Week

Julia Hand, Saint Anselm College, So., Goalkeeper (Reading, Massachusetts)

Hand had two victories in goal for the No. 10 Saint Anselm College last week, the first of which came against the No. 5 Merrimack College where she posted three saves in the Hawks' 4-2 win. She then added four saves in the 1-0 shutout of Franklin Pierce University, earning her ninth career shutout across 34 games in goal for Saint Anselm.

Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Offensive Player of the Week

Kelli Shapiro, East Stroudsburg University, Sr., Midfielder (Ocean, New Jersey)

Shapiro is in the midst of an incredible offensive run for No. 3 East Stroudsburg University, as she has totaled 20 points on eight goals and four assists over the team's past three victories. Sixteen of those points came in the Warriors' two wins last week, where she recorded two goals and three assists in a 6-2 win over Molloy College on Wednesday before a four-goal, one-assist effort in a 6-1 win at Mansfield University on Saturday.

This is the final week that the NFHCA will be recognizing the Longstreth/NFHCA Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week for the 2018 season.
