Giuttari, Tiffany named Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Weekly Award winners

GILBERT, Ariz. — Kate Tiffany, a senior defender from No. 6 University of Rochester, and Michaela Giuttari, a junior forward from No. 14 Hamilton College, are this week's Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Defensive Player of the Week

Kate Tiffany, University of Rochester, Sr., Defender (Deposit, New York)

Tiffany was an essential piece of the No. 6 University of Rochester defensive unit last week, as the Yellowjackets improved to 12-0 this season. Last Wednesday, Rochester's defense, led by Tiffany, held St. John Fisher College to a season-low six shots in a 3-1 victory. Then on Saturday at Union College, the Yellowjacket defense held the Dutchwomen to just four shots and four penalty corners, both of which were season lows. Tiffany recorded one assist and one defensive save in the game to propel UR to a 2-0 win.

Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Offensive Player of the Week

Michaela Giuttari, Hamilton College, Jr., Forward (Warwick, Rhode Island)

Giuttari helped lead No. 14 Hamilton College to a pair of wins last week. She scored a goal and added an assist in a 4-0 triumph against William Smith College on October 3. She then scored two goals, including the game winner, 8:05 into overtime, in a 4-3 victory at then-No. 18 Amherst College on October 6. That goal was the 46th of her Hamilton career and moved her into second place on the program's all-time list.

Honorable Mentions

Samantha Ackerman, SUNY New Paltz, Sr., Defender (Nesconset, New York)

Ackerman recorded an assist and also helped her team defensively to earn their first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Oswego State. Ackerman then tallied the game-tying goal and game-winning assist in a 2-1 win over SUNY Cortland, while also recording a defensive save in the match.

Gabby Hyman, Skidmore College, Sr., Forward (Bernardsville, New Jersey)

Hyman collected nine points last week on four goals and an assist. She scored a late, second half goal to force overtime against then-No. 13 Williams College, eventually scoring the game winner to secure the victory. She also had a goal in a win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a goal and an assist in a road win over Nazareth College.

Rena Israel, Washington & Jefferson College, So., Goalkeeper (Wexford, Pennsylvania)

Israel was strong in cage for No. 18 Washington & Jefferson College last week, as she helped guide the Presidents to their seventh, eighth and ninth shutouts of the year. Israel played 210 scoreless minutes and made 12 saves. With their three wins last week over Frostburg State University, Hartwick College and The Sage Colleges, Washington & Jefferson improved to 11-0.

Ashley Tango, Babson College, Sr., Midfielder (Reading, Massachusetts)

Tango produced four goals and one assist for nine points and became just the 17th player in NCAA Division III history to reach the 50-goal, 50-assist mark in a pair of wins for No. 11 Babson College. She recorded her second career hat trick and matched her career high with seven points in Wednesday's 8-0 rout of Wellesley College and followed it up with another tally in Saturday's 6-1 victory at Clark University.
