West Chester tops week five of Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. — Last week's first-place tie was broken after West Chester University's 2-0 week — the Golden Rams defeated No. 9 Millersville University and Slippery Rock to improve to 7-1. They are followed on the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll by No. 2 East Stroudsburg University who also went undefeated last week — the Warriors repeated their winning performance over No. 5 Shippensburg University and also defeated Mercyhurst University.

The two top teams are followed by No. 3 Stonehill College, No. 4 Merrimack College and No. 5 Shippensburg.

Five top-10 contests are slated to take place this week. Today will feature No. 2 ESU at No. 7 Bloomsburg University, No. 1 West Chester at No. 5 Shippensburg, and No. 6 Kutztown University at No. 9 Millersville.

Be sure to follow the results of these games and all Division II field hockey matches throughout the week on nfhca.org.

The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 16. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2018 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
