Stonehill, West Chester tie for first on the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. — Stonehill College and West Chester University tied for first place on the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll this week with 214 points each. Last week both teams went undefeated. Notably No. 1 West Chester had two wins over ranked opponents last week, including a dramatic overtime win over then-No. 1 East Stroudsburg University last Thursday. 

Rounding out the top-five this week are No. 3 East Stroudsburg, No. 4 Shippensburg University and No. 5 Merrimack College.

This week will feature three top-10 matchups, all of which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 3. No. 4 Shippensburg will travel to No. 3 East Stroudsburg where these conference rivals will face off in a 4:00 p.m. contest. On September 19, the last time these two teams met, No. 3 East Stroudsburg upended the then-No. 1 Raiders in a 4-0 victory.

The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II National Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, October 9. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2018 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
