Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll top five shifts to include Penn State

GILBERT, Ariz. — The University of Connecticut remained at the top of the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll after an undefeated two weekend stretch. The University of North Carolina took the second spot, followed by the University of Maryland, Duke University and Penn State University, respectively.

Appearing in the rankings for the first time this season are Old Dominion University (No. 21) and Rutgers University (No. 23). Both teams remain undefeated with seven wins between them. The Liberty University Flames made the biggest jump in the poll from number 23 to number 16 after three wins, one over a ranked opponent.

This evening, Princeton University (No. 6) will face Penn State (No. 5) in Happy Valley at 7:30 p.m. The rest of the week will feature 12 top-25 matchups and will usher in the beginning of conference play for the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, September 11. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches and has no bearing on selection to the 2018 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.
