GILBERT, Ariz. - Messiah heads into its conference tournament this week with a perfect record and once again holds the No. 1 ranking in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Coaches Poll.
The Falcons have an unblemished 17-0 record this season, and the defending NCAA Division III national champions have won 39 straight games going back to last year. Messiah will open tournament play in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth by hosting Albright on Wednesday. The Falcons captured 855 points and 38 first-place votes as they claimed the No. 1 ranking.
No. 2 Middlebury and No. 3 Babson each maintained their ranking, while No. 4 The College of New Jersey rose two spots and No. 5 Christopher Newport held its position. The rest of the top 10 included No. 6 Salisbury, No. 7 Williams, No. 8 Montclair State, No. 9 Tufts and No. 10 Kean.
The bottom half of the poll featured No. 11 Catholic, No. 12 MIT, No. 13 Franklin & Marshall, No. 14 Amherst, No. 15 Rochester, No. 16 Bowdoin, No. 17 Trinity, No. 18 Hamilton, No. 19 York and No. 20 Cortland.

Teams throughout the country will compete in conference tournament play this weekend, with three or more ranked teams in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, Capital Athletic Conference and New Jersey Athletic Conference.
The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, November 7.
