Longstreth/NFHCA Division III Weekly Award Winners Announced

GILBERT, Ariz. - Wellesley junior midfielder/defender Arielle Mitropoulos and Montclair State junior midfielder/defender Marissa Siconolfi have been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III weekly award winners for competition from Oct. 23-29, it was announced on Wednesday.

Honorable mention status went to Bridgewater sophomore goalkeeper Ali Bishop, Trinity senior forward Kelcie Finn, The College of New Jersey senior forward Elizabeth Morrison and Marywood freshman midfielder/defender Natalie Martine.

Offensive Player of the Week

Arielle Mitropoulos, Wellesley Jr., M/D, Cambridge, Mass./The Winsor School

Mitropoulos scored five goals in a pair of victories for the Blue last week. She tallied a hat trick in a 5-2 win over UMass Dartmouth, then notched a pair of goals in a 4-3 victory over Wheaton. Mitropoulos scored the overtime game-winner in the contest to lift Wellesley into the postseason tournament for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).

Defensive Player of the Week

Marissa Siconolfi, Montclair State Jr., M/D, Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown

Siconolfi played a key role in three wins for the Red Hawks last week. She made a defensive save in the second half of a 1-0 overtime win against FDU-Florham, and helped her squad limit Ramapo to just one shot in a 3-0 victory. Siconolfi then helped Montclair State to a 2-1 win over Babson in a top-ten matchup as the Red Hawks kept the Beavers off the scoreboard for the final 66 minutes.

Honorable Mention

Ali Bishop, Bridgewater So., GK, Felton, Del./Lake Forest

Bishop totaled 19 saves and allowed only one goal in a pair of one-goal victories for the Eagles last week.

Kelcie Finn, Trinity Sr., F, Weymouth, Mass./Thayer Academy

Finn notched four goals and added an assist in a pair of wins over ranked opponents last week.

Elizabeth Morrison, The College of New Jersey Sr., F, Stonington, Conn./Stonington

Morrison recorded four goals and two assists in a pair of wins for the Lions last week.

Natalie Martine, Marywood Fr., D/M, Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg

Martine had both a defensive save and the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against Keystone to give Marywood a postseason berth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC).
