Longstreth/NFHCA Division II Weekly Award Winners Announced

GILBERT, Ariz. - Assumption senior forward Allison Sheahan and Shippensburg junior goalkeeper Ally Mooney have been selected as the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II weekly award winners for competition from Sept. 25-Oct. 1, it was announced on Wednesday.

Honorable mention status went to Limestone sophomore midfielder Kate Remley, Millersville sophomore midfielder Alexis Gazzio and Pace senior goalkeeper Lesly Sanchez Alvarez.

Offensive Player of the Week

Allison Sheahan, Assumption Sr., F, Higganum, Conn./Haddam-Killingworth

Sheahan came up big in a pair of wins for the Greyhounds last week, including a 3-2 victory over then-No. 3 LIU Post on Sept. 26. After assisting on her team's first goal in the 62nd minute to lead a comeback from a 2-0 deficit, Sheahan scored the game-winner in overtime in the 71st minute. She had more heroics in a 3-2 win over Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, assisting on the first goal and scoring the final two in the victory.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ally Mooney, Shippensburg Jr., GK, Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts

Mooney made a combined 15 saves to lead Shippensburg to a pair of wins over top-10 teams last week and back to the No. 1 ranking in this week's Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll. In a matchup of the top two teams in the country, Mooney came up with eight stops as Shippensburg took down then-No. 1 East Stroudsburg by a 4-1 final on Wednesday. She followed it up with seven stops in a 3-2 victory against Bloomsburg on Saturday.

Honorable Mention

Kate Remley, Limestone So., M, Chesapeake, Va./Grassfield

Remley totaled five goals in two games last week, including a hat trick for all of her team's scoring in a 3-1 win over Lindenwood in a matchup of undefeated squads on Friday. All three goals came from the 57th minute on.

Alexis Gazzio, Millersville So., M, Hershey, Pa./Hershey

Gazzio scored her team's lone goal in 1-0 wins over both West Chester and Mercyhurst last week.

Lesly Sanchez Alvarez, Pace Sr., GK, Stamford, Conn./Stamford

Sanchez Alvarez led her team to three shutouts last week, with 10 saves in a 2-0 triumph against Adelphi on Sept. 26.
