Shippensburg Holds No. 1 Spot in Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. - Shippensburg once again ranked No. 1 in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Coaches Poll on Tuesday as conference tournaments are on the schedule this week.

The Raiders finished the regular season with a 14-3 record, which included a 9-1 mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference to earn the top seed and hosting duties for this weekend's tournament semifinals and championship. Shippensburg captured 152 points and nine first-place votes to claim the No. 1 ranking.

East Stroudsburg held its position at No. 2 while Saint Anselm moved up a slot to No. 3, Millersville dropped one place to No. 4 and LIU Post held at No. 5. No. 6 Stonehill, No. 7 West Chester and No. 8 Pace also maintained their ranking while No. 9 Lindenwood was up a spot and No. 10 Bloomsburg joined the poll this week.

The PSAC Tournament begins on Tuesday with No. 10 Bloomsburg facing No. 7 West Chester and No. 2 East Stroudsburg taking on Slippery Rock. Shippensburg and Millersville will await the winners in the semifinals on Friday with the championship set for Sunday.

In the Northeast-10 Conference, the quarterfinals on Tuesday feature No. 5 LIU Post against Merrimack and No. 8 Pace versus Assumption. Top seed Saint Anselm and second-seed Stonehill will host semifinal contests on Friday, with the championship at the highest remaining seed on Sunday. Lindenwood will host the ECAC Tournament on Friday and Sunday.

The next Penn Monto/NFHCA Division II Coaches Poll will be announced on Tuesday, November 7. The poll is voted on by NFHCA member coaches, and has no bearing on selection to the 2017 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship.
